The committee would like to invite applications from crews (not already on the selected team) who would like to compete in the Junior European Championships 2017. Sailors and their parents are asked to review the following points prior to submitting their applications:
- A total of 4 places are available at the event – two places at U17 (both helm and crew born 2001 or later) and two places at U19 (both helm and crew born 1999 or later). Applications will be dealt with in ranking order.
- Sailors and their parents will be responsible for the transportation of both the boats and the sailors to and from the event and for the provision of accommodation, food and transport while at the event.
- Outside of the dinghy park, the Association cannot take any responsibility for the supervision or safety of the sailors.
- While in the dinghy park or on the water the sailors will join the selected team and will be asked to sign the code of conduct in relation to these times. The sailors will participate in team briefings and will have full access to coaches in the dinghy park and on the water. Participation in the coaching program is mandatory and a contribution of €300 per sailor will be charged in addition to the entry fee to offset the costs of coaching at the event. Once a place is accepted, an immediate payment of the full cost of €425 per sailor will be requested.
We are pleased to be able to offer these additional places. As the President is away for the next couple of days, we would ask those interested to email Mark Whitaker at treasurer@sail420.com by Friday 5th May who will liaise with the Selection Committee. We would ask those who have already been in touch regarding the extra places to please reconfirm their interest.
Finally, we will aim to confirm the allocation of places by Sunday 7th May.
